I don’t ever like staying at hotels; my wife, on the other hand, prefers staying at hotels on trips.
But, when planning for birthdays and other special trips, this disagreement can escalate into a full-blown argument… Typically, the both of us end up staying at a hotel… She is enthusiastic about the room, and then I am pleased with the fact that there is a complimentary breakfast and lunch.
Sadly, one of the worst things about hotels is that their heating, ventilation, and A/C units are not as great as the ones at our house. We simply have the best heating, ventilation, and A/C setup that we could afford at the time. Our system is legitimately efficient, and it is almost silent when it’s running. My temperature controls are all smart temperature controls, which means I can adjust the temperature with only our iphones; and then I can program our temperature control easily over the internet. The temperature control has even adapted to our preferences, which means it can guess what temperature I want it when. With the hotel a/c on the other hand, we don’t have that luxury. I have to reset it every time I am leaving, and plus, the a/c never shuts off. Even if the a/c has a digital temperature control, it typically manages to be freezing whenever I wake up. When it comes to furnaces or heat sources, the hotel is controlled by a central furnace. That means I have no ability to independently control the temperature control for heat. Because of this, I never sleep well in a hotel. The trips that are supposed to be legitimately nice leave me really wishing I was back at our house with our awesome heating, ventilation, and A/C technology. My wife, regardless of the heating, ventilation, and A/C equipment, is just enthusiastic to be in a new environment.
