My neighbor got into an accident last month. He severely injured most of his muscles, which left him very weak. He had a hard time taking care of himself and didn’t have much family to support him. I felt really bad for him because I know he wasn’t proud of the fact that he couldn’t take care of himself, but it wasn’t his fault. He ended up having to go into a nursing home facility so he could rest and recuperate. The nursing team was there to help with anything he needed, around the clock. They were right there if he ever needed help getting in and out of bed, and were able to support him for all of his sessions, like physical therapy. I was happy to see that they were also making sure that his comfort needs were met, and not just his medical. He was telling me how they always make sure he gets time in the recreation room to watch T.V. and listen to music. They also make sure his room is a comfortable temperature for him. They come in multiple time a day to adjust the settings on the A/C control unit when he requests it. It is the summer time, so they are in and out of his room a lot to change the temperature. He told me he feels bad asking them to do this, since they are supposed to be his medical professionals and not his wait staff. I told him that he shouldn’t feel bad because that’s the other part of their job when they are in a place like this. I’ve noticed he is improving fast, as I am sure it is because of their kindness and treatment.
