My best friends sister just moved started college and had to live on campus in their dorms.
- She was very nervous to start, so I was eager to hear how her first day went.
I’ve known her for most of her life. She called to tell me that on her first day, there was a girl in the room already, but she was unpacking her items,. Apparently she was one of the students from the previous year still trying to move out. My friends sister found this as a blessing in disguise because she wanted to ask for her advice on what to do in college. Smart thinking. She gave her some pointers for what to expect when it came to campus life. Having this conversation helped to calm her nerves. My friends sister went as far to help her out to her car with all her boxes to show her gratitude for the advice. When they came back up for the remainder of the girls items, she saw there was still an A/C unit in the window. She asked if they needed to bring it down, but the girl said no. She told her that she wanted to leave the a/c unit in the dorm for her to use. She wanted to pass the A/C unit on from student to student to allow for all the freshman to have a comfortable first year. Apparently the dorm building itself had a/c, but the dorm master was actually strict about the dorm’s usage of central cooling. Individual A/Cs in each of the rooms went unmonitored. She thanked her again and wished her luck moving forward. I told her that she handled that really well and she was about to have a very comfortable and enjoyable time in college.
