I was happy when I had a new smart thermostat installed in my home, but I don’t think my dog was very happy about it.
He acted like the smart thermostat was an invader of our home because it was new and he didn’t know what it was.
Whenever the screen would light up, he would start growling and barking at the smart thermostat. I think a big problem was that I had the voice announcements on my smart thermostat. The thermostat would tell me when I asked what the indoor temperature was and what the weather conditions where outside. One day, my dog decided to bite the thermostat off the wall and he ran outside the doggy door with it. He ended up burying the smart thermostat somewhere outside in the backyard. This was very upsetting, and I couldn’t believe what had happened. While I was disappointed, I was thinking about what I should do about the situation. I wanted to get another smart thermostat, but I didn’t want my dog to attack the thing like it was some intruder to our household. So, I decided to get a cage to put around the smart thermostat. I didn’t even have to adjust the temperature control by going to the thermostat, I could just do voice commands or use the smart app on my phone. I found this was a great solution. My dog still barked at the thermostat every so often, but eventually he got used to it. He wasn’t able to pull it out from the wall or anything.
