Asthma and air ducts

My family is incredibly healthy and I’m so glad that we have strong bodies on our sides. My brothers are some of the most capable people I’ve ever known. They’re incredibly athletic and strong. I can’t remember a time that anybody was incapable of doing anything. No one has spent time and hospitals or been laid up with serious injuries as far as I can remember. The only thing that has ever been a problem in my family was my middle brother’s respiratory health for a few years. When we were kids he suffered from severe asthma. This didn’t stop him from playing every sport and being incredibly active, but there were nights that he could not breathe. My parents would have to take him to the hospital in emergency situations. Since then, he hasn’t done anything to take care of his lungs, but they seem like they’ve gotten better. That is, until he came and visited me a few weeks ago. My brother came over to my house for the first time and within a day or two of arriving, he was suddenly hacking up along all the time. He said he had trouble catching his breath, and it was beginning to feel a lot like his childhood asthma. I thought that was so strange considering we just had the HVAC system installed a few months ago. Surely our air filter couldn’t be really dirty in affecting him. Still, I called out the nearest Heating and Cooling company to take a look at all of our air conditioning equipment for the sake of my coughing brother. During this visit I realized what the culprit was for my brother’s bad breathing. It wasn’t our HVAC equipment, itself, but our filthy air ducts. Now I’m wondering how dirty the air ducts were in my childhood home.
