I am so worried about our new home

Last year, we decided to buy a new home. It is new to us, but not so new as we thought. The realtor told us that the HVAC system was only ten years old. When we got into the house, it needed some work which isn’t so bad, but we had some problems with the HVAC within the first month. When the HvAC company came out to look at the HVAC system, they didn’t know what to do. They told us that the entire HVAC system, including the ductwork, needed to be replaced. They couldn’t believe the HVAC system had passed the inspections. When we hesitantly told him that they told us it was only ten years old, we had waved the HVAC inspection. Apparently our HVAC system was at least thirty years old. I was devastated and now I am worried. I’m not sure what to think now, because what if the owners and realtor had lied about more than just the HVAC system. Isn’t it the responsibility of the realtor to make sure their clients are telling the truth? Isn’t there some kind of verification to prove the age of the HVAC system, roof and septic. The septic really has me worried. What if what they said about the sand mound being only a couple years old, was wrong. What if it is also the same age as the house. They didn’t even tell me the plumbing company or the HvAC company they used. I could be looking at a huge bill in the future, because I need to have my septic system emptied and cleaned.
