Back when I was in high school I couldn’t wait until I was older and could do things on my own.
I loved my parents to death but when I was younger they used to be extremely strict and overbearing. All of my friends and teachers would always tell me that I was going to miss living back at home once I started college and regret picking a school so far away. Not only did that not turn out to be true, but I am thankful that I made the choice to go to college far away from home every day. Now that I am on my own I control what goes on in my apartment no matter what. I have a cute studio apartment all to myself and everything about it is tuned to my liking. Back at home, my parents had a mild case of hoarding and they never ran the air conditioning unit even on the warmest of days. I used to go to bed feeling overheated and wake up covered in sweat during the summer months. Those days are finally behind me now that I have a state of the art air conditioning unit that is also extremely energy efficient. Every time I come home from a sweaty workout I am instantly cooled off and refreshed once I step foot in the doorway. It feels so good to know that I got myself out of a situation that I didn’t like all on my own rather than complaining and doing nothing about it. Life on my own is great and I don’t think I ever want to live with anyone else, especially my parents!
