Unluckily, I had no choice but to rely on the heating machine in the cold season.
I graduated school with too much debt. Between paying student loans, health insurance & car insurance, I barely had enough in my budget to afford a cheap residence to live in. I chose my living arrangements based on the cost of rent & ended up in a rundown place within walking distance of my task. I was able to get an entry level position that didn’t pay all that much & I honestly needed to trim my expenses in every possible way. I lived with a roof that leaked, squeaky floors, low water pressure & questionable electrical wiring for about 2 years. The refrigerator wasn’t nearly cold enough to prevent meat from spoiling & the toilet ran non stop. The oven smoked so much that I had to take the batteries out of the smoke alarm. I tried never to run the air conditioner machine because it used so much energy. Whenever the cooling machine started up, my electric bill just about doubled. On top of that, the air conditioner machine filled the home with such a musty stink that I typically got a headache. It dripped water, tended to make a screeching sound & struggled to put out enough cool air to make much of a difference. Unluckily, I had no choice but to rely on the heating machine in the cold season. I’d bundle up in layers of overcoats, set the thermostat as low as I could take & shiver. The heating machine was unquestionably inefficient, seemed to run non stop & spewed a wonderful deal of dust. Whenever it started up, the lights flickered in my residence. I was anxious about air quality & safety issues, however my landlord wasn’t helpful in the slightest… As soon as I got a reasonable pay raise at work, I found a better residence to live in.
