Living in the north I learned when I was young how important having a properly running furnace was to my family’s well being.
If anything stopped the heater from running during the coldest night’s life was almost unbearable.
Always make sure you get your furnace serviced before winter to keep from having issues later on. Once I became an adult and had my own home I always make sure that I call the local HVAC company to schedule a maintenance and service appointment on my furnace in the fall. I remember one particular winter when the furnace stopped working and my family had to stay in a motel for a week until the HVAC company got the furnace repaired. It was a pain in the neck to move my family of 6 into a motel for a week. It was a costly mistake and would never happen again. It costs to keep the furnace maintained but not nearly as costly as needing it repaired in the dead of winter and needing to be uprooted from your home while waiting on parts or service. The heating repair company is awesome! They always attempt to get things done quickly and efficiently. I have a service agreement with the heating company to maintain and service my a/c and heater twice a year before winter and summer. It’s important to keep those properly maintained otherwise your a/c and heater won’t last as long and replacing them can cost a lot more than just the unit itself. Take it from someone who lived through an incident of not having heat or a/c when it is needed most….it’s worth the maintenance.
