The wood stove was cozy

I suppose it was the first time I had ever been in her little lake house during the winter

I can’t imagine residing without some sort of formal heating during the winter. I have a neighbor who only has a little wood stove in her new home to keep her warm. I have often told her to come right over to our new home when it was truly cold. She only has a small cabin, but I truly believe she has to get cold in there. She had lived alone ever since her dear old wife died. She went out in the summer time as well as chop wood each day for the wood stove. She would stack the piles of wood by the house, as well as she refused to allow anyone to help her with a second of the work. She said the wood was for her new home heating, as well as it was her whole new responsibility. My wife tries to get me to take her over to our good friend’s house. She thinks that she may accept help, actually, from her, but our neighbor is stubborn. The other week, for instance, both of us lost our electricity during a truly bad snowstorm. She called right away to see if both of us were okay as well as I had to admit readily that both of us were freezing. She told us to come on over since she apparently had heating. I suppose it was the first time I had ever been in her little lake house during the winter. It was so sizzling in there, that I was nearly perspiring within a minute. We stayed there, enjoying the heat from her wood stove for hours, as well as not caring how long our electricity was going to be out. When the power company told us the electricity was finally back on, both of us grudgingly went back out into the cold ASAP so both of us could make sure our furnace was running again.
