HVAC work is the perfect job for me

Going away to college was never something I was very interested in.

I had been told my whole life, by my folks and my teachers, that we were supposed to go to school, then go away to college.

Getting a college degree was drilled into my head as the most important thing I could do. Then when it all happened and I did go away for college I realized I had no interest in it, I was doing it because I had been told to. At that point I decided to find my own path, which ultimately led me here, to being an HVAC technician. You may be thinking “why would he quit college to work on air conditioners, is he a moron?” Well I might be a moron, but for me being an HVAC tech was everything I wanted. I could get my HVAC certification and start working full time within 18 months, and I wouldn’t go underwater in loan debt doing it! Once I landed a gig as an HVAC tech I would start off with good bay and solid benefits, which would only get better over time. Another thing I wanted from a career was being able to leave my work at work at the end of the day, and HVAC also gives me that. I work hard, but when it’s time to go home I don’t think about heating or cooling systems until the next morning when I go back in. My free time is sacred to me, and HVAC work never seems to intrude on it.
