Going away to school was never something I was honestly interested in! I had been told my whole life, by my folks and other adults, that we were supposed to go to school, then go away to college, and getting a degree was drilled into my head as the most crucial thing I could do.
Then when it all happened and I did go away for school I realized I had no interest in it, I was doing it because I had been told to! At that point I decided to find my own path, which ultimately led me here, to being an HVAC serviceman.
You may be wondering “why would he quit school to work on air conditioners, is he a moron?” Well I might be a moron, however for me being an HVAC serviceman was everything I wanted. I could get my heating and A/C certification and begin working full time within 22 months, and I wouldn’t go underwater in loan debt doing it! Once I landed a gig as an HVAC serviceman, I would begin with fantastic pay and solid benefits, which would only get better over time. Another thing I wanted from work was being able to leave my work at work at the end of the shift, and being an HVAC serviceman also gives me that. I work hard, however when it’s time to go home I don’t want to think about heating or cooling systems until the next morning when I go back in. My free time is sacred to me, and heating and A/C work never seems to intrude on it.
