HVAC dealer never came

Once he had the dehumidifier hooked up, the basement was nice and dry in no time.

My father-in-law called the other day in a frizzy, because he was upset that his basement floor plus walls were all damp. Now, normally, he’d never goes down there, because it isn’t a nice finished basement. His home is as old as him, and the only thing down there is his oil furnace, tepid water tank, plus a few seasoned tools. My hubby goes over to examine things a few times a year to change the filters in the oil furnace, but that’s it! We weren’t sure why he decided to go down on this day, but I told him that his son would be over right away. He came back to our house when he was done and said that, due to the abnormally wet Spring season, his walls and flooring was entirely saturated with moisture. He said that he was going to head to contact the Heating and A/C contractor within the neighborhood to see about purchasing a different dehumidifier for the space. He told me that the units that were sold at the local hardware store weren’t powerful enough to remove all the moisture that was in the walls and floors. I was upset that we wouldn’t need to check his basement constantly to empty a reservoir, because my hubby said the new system would have a direct feed into the drain tube into the sump pit. We wouldn’t need to maintain it anymore. Once he had the dehumidifier hooked up, the basement was nice and dry in no time. The Heating plus A/C technician advocated that my hubby and I still check on the machine at the end of the month. IT also needed to be shut down during the drier season to extend the life of it. It was a pretty easy fix.
