Stuck waiting for him

My sister called the other morning and was panicking.

She was distraught because she’d ventured into her basement and discovered that the walls plus floor were wet.

My sister never goes into her basement because it’s unfinished and scary. The home is certainly old, so the only thing down there is a gas furnace, her warm water tank, plus a few old tools from the previous owner. My spouse goes over to her house multiple times a year to check things out plus change the filters in the gas furnace. This is the only time anyone goes down there. I wasn’t sure why my sister decided to go into her basement, but I told her I’d have my spouse come over when he was free. He came back from her house and told me that, due to the wet spring season, her walls and floor were easily saturated. My spouse said that they’d call the local Heating plus Air Conditioning company to find pricing for a high quality dehumidifier in the space. Apparently, the units sold at the local hardware store weren’t strong enough to remove all the moisture that was in the space. I was concerned that we would both have to go over and empty her dehumidifier, but my spouse said that a professional could direct feed the drain tube into the sump pit plus the two of us would never have to do anything with it again. Once he had it hooked up to my sister’s basement, it was high and dry in no time. The Heating plus Air Conditioning business proposed that my spouse and I check on her unit every so often, but shut it off during the drier months to extend the life of the unit.
