The guy never showed

My grandfather called the other morning in a panic. He said he was disappointed because he’d ventured into the basement plus found damp floors and walls. My grandfather nevers enters his basement because it’s old and hazardous. His home is old and the only items down there are the oil furnace, sizzling water tank, and a few of his old tools. My husband goes over to his house and replaces the filters in the oil furnace a few times a year, but it’s honestly the only time anyone is ever down there. Anyway, I wasn’t sure why my grandfather decided to go into his basement, but told him that I’d send my husband over ASAP. He came home from his house and mentioned that due to the moist spring weather, his ground was saturated. This was causing all the basement walls and floors to seep moisture. He said that he needed to visit the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier in our town to see about purchasing a high quality dehumidifier for my grandfather’s basement. He said that the cheap ones that could be purchased at hardware stores weren’t powerful enough to get rid of the amount of moisture that was in his basement. I was sad because I thought my husband and I would need to empty the reservoir often, however he told me that he’d directly feed the drain tube into the sump pit so we’d never have to do anything with the new dehumidifier. Once everything was hooked up, the moisture in the basement evaporated in no time. The Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C supplier advocated that we check on the new machine once a month. We also needed to turn it off in the drier seasons to extend the life of it. At least it was a straight-forward fix.
