My mom has depression-era HVAC beliefs

I don’t know what is up with my family, but I have had enough of them.

In the past year I’ve come to the hard realization that they do not have the same beliefs and values that I do… and I don’t know if I can keep them in my life as close associates.

I honestly think it might be better for everyone if we just went our separate ways after these most recent experiences together have gone so poorly, all the way down to the indoor air quality. You see, my family loves to try to control and manipulate each other, and the heating, cooling, and air quality control equipment is really no different in our home. We’re all trying to vy for control of the thermostat on any given day… the problem being that none of us agree on the ideal indoor air quality or preferred indoor air temperature. Instead, we all have diverse wants and needs when it comes to the temperature, the humidity levels, and the filtration options. And my mother is the most ridiculous heating and cooling controller of them all. She insists that we aren’t supposed to use the heating and cooling equipment whatsoever, because it’s so expensive. She shuts off the AC unit every time it’s below 90 degrees outside. She won’t use the furnace unless there’s a blizzard knocking at her door. And she believes that no one has a right to say anything about the subpar indoor air conditions that she fosters. The hardest thing is, my mom has a nice heating and cooling system. She just hates to use the air quality control devices because she thinks the energy company is going to bankrupt her. Not if you never turn on the HVAC system, mom.
