The insurance company wanted fifty different pictures of the hole

Last summer there was a terrible thunderstorm in the neighborhood.

A large pine tree above our garage was struck by lightning.

When the tree was struck, that trunk was broken right in half. Part of the tree continued to remain attached to the stump, but part of the tree fell after being struck by lightning. When the tree fell, it landed directly on our home above the kitchen. I did not believe the branch caused any structural problems until we started seeing water leaking through the roof. I went to the garage to grab a ladder and I secured the damage with a tarp and some ropes from the garage. When the storm was over, my wife and I started looking for roofing contractors. The insurance company told us that it would be easier for us to handle all of the damages. Part of the reason was due to the covid virus. The roofing contractor didn’t want to send anyone out to the house that would end up getting sick. The insurance company requested about 50 different pictures of the damage to the roof and the whole. My wife and I took a lot of pictures and emailed them to our insurance adjuster. They went through each picture with me one by one. After that, the adjuster asked for more specific pictures of areas near the roof that were not damaged. The insurance process took about a week. Finding the contractor to complete the roofing work was the biggest issue that we had to face. We needed to find a contractor that was inexpensive and thorough.
