My new cooling system is nearly twenty years old, and it’s definitely wearing out, however i’ve noticed a decrease in performance over the last couple of years, but the cooling system now makes a lot more noise and runs for much longer cycles.
It’s having some trouble keeping up on especially hot days and our weekly energy costs are climbing steadily higher; Just recently, the air from the vents has begun to have a musty smell, then although I’ve been conscientious about scheduling annual, professional service for the cooling unit, I guess it’s at the end of its lifespan.

If the Heating, Ventilation & A/C corporation doesn’t respectfully size the unit, I’ll end up paying higher energy costs and residing with insufficient comfort. It’s possible the new cooling system will frequently malfunction and not last as long. I need a trustworthy Heating, Ventilation & A/C corporation who will take the time to accurately calculate the heat gain/loss of our home. He needs to take into consideration the number of windows, levels of insulation and occupancy before making a recommendation. I need to be sure he’ll effectively link the ductwork to the new system and complete an airnarrow seal.
