Born to be on TV

Over the last few years, reality TV has really taken over cable broadcasting. With hundreds of different channels out there, all trying to come up with original programming, they have chosen to focus mostly on “reality” shows. I have to put them in quotation marks, because as you all know there is very little reality contained in any of them. They are, however, extremely cheap to produce, so why make 1 bad scripted show when you can make 10 bad reality shows for the same price? I am trying to turn this to my favor, and have started pitching my own reality series to the cable networks. I want to call it the Cooling Kings, and it will be about my wife, my two grown sons, and myself as we run our family-owned HVAC repair business. I know what you are going to say, that watching people work on broken air conditioners does not sound that exciting. Let me ask you this, is AC repair any less interesting than car repair, furniture repair, house flipping, gardening, or any other reality show? I would argue that while Cooling Kings isn’t going to be groundbreaking television by any means, it can be as good as any of that other trash. Since we own the HVAC company and my family comprises our full work force, it would make a good clash of professional and personal drama, not far off from Pawn Stars. So far I have not gotten any interest in my HVAC reality show, but I will keep pitching it all the same.
