The bigger the area that needs to be cooled, the bigger the tonnage of the AC unit
I have had to get measured for my dresses and for my slacks. I have had my feet measured and even my bra size. I could not for the life of me, figure out why I had to measure my air conditioning unit. I had to laugh when the HVAC company asked me what size AC unit I needed. I kind of nodded and laughingly told him a Large. He smiled, but he wasn’t amused. He told me that I needed to tell him what size it was if he was going to give me an estimate. I told him he was the HVAC representative and he should be able to tell me what size my air conditioning unit was, since I bought it from his company. He took my name and went through my files. He said that his company did not sell me the air conditioning unit. I was so angry with him that I walked out of the office and went home. I looked all over my house for the paperwork to the air conditioning unit. When my husband got home, I told him I tried to get an estimate for the new air conditioning system but they wanted a size. I thought the company that sold us the AC unit, would know what size it was. I told him I them it was a large unit. He at least laughed and explained to me that AC units come in tonnage. The bigger the area that needs to be cooled, the bigger the tonnage of the AC unit. He went downstairs and got the paperwork to the AC unit for me.
