Central AC was harder to install than I thought

After they were able to do this, the Heating and A/C professional had to punch many holes through the brick to run all of the pipes and wires to the outside unit.

I am a bloke that just wants particular things done right, and I just don’t understand how things can be so complicated. I care about my very old home. It is a brick house, and it has had several additions over the last few years. I have had a metric ton of job done to it, and right now, I want to have a central air conditioner installed at the house. I believe that it could be quite a project, but apparently, it will cost myself and others a small fortune just to have this Heating and A/C machine installed. When I looked up the estimated prices online, the Heating and A/C websites gave myself and others what I considered to be a honorable enough rating. However, when I had the Heating and A/C professional come to my home, he gave myself and others a much higher price. Apparently, since it is a very old brick house, installing central air conditioner is much harder. The Heating and A/C professional informed myself and others that I would have to hire an electrician to run heavy duty wires underneath the house, which would be hard because no human alive would fit through my crawl space. The electrician labored for nearly a month to install the wires for the air conditioner. After they were able to do this, the Heating and A/C professional had to punch many holes through the brick to run all of the pipes and wires to the outside unit. Everything was going very well until I realize that my old home didn’t have a ton of vents because they didn’t install them into the oldest part of the house. This meant that the air conditioner would only job in particular parts of my home, completely ruining my whole plan. They told myself and others that they really had no other options for the air conditioner unless I wanted ductless mini-split air conditioners. So I am frustrated.
