The machine makes us lose work

Some of these extravagant commercial machines & routers make it much less time-consuming to create a product, however that does not mean it’s going to be a fantastic product.

25 years ago, I started finally working for a contractor that manufactured aircraft Interiors. All of us hand split & craft all of the seats & every other piece of fabric inside of the aircraft. All of us were well known in the industry for the finest stitching & Aircraft Interior products. Things have definitely changed in the last few years, & all the people are ditching the hand-stitching for commercial printers, but just last week, both of us lost a pretty big work. All of us have been supplying all of the flooring & leather products for a major aircraft carrier in our hometown. They decided not to renew their contract this year, because they found a contractor that will produce the aircraft Interiors for 40% less than our price. Instead of hand-stitching everything, they are using some type of commercial router. All of our products are split by hand & sewn to perfection with top of the line threads & double stitches. Some of these extravagant commercial machines & routers make it much less time-consuming to create a product, however that does not mean it’s going to be a fantastic product. Most of our vinyl is split by hand & the lines are impeccable, however both of us are losing a lot of contractor to companies that can afford high-priced routers from Gerber & ColorDyne. It’s going to put the small suppliers out of shop legitimately suddenly. After being in contractor for 25 years, I know it would be a shame to close the doors. The contractor also employs about 150 employees in the county, & that is going to be a big loss to the community.
