If registers are not sealed effectively at the duct connection or if there are holes in the ducts or leaks at the seams, air can escape, then when conditioned air doesn’t reach the intended destination, the multiple rooms suppose either cold or hot; You’re likely to adjust the thermostat, putting more strain on heating & cooling device & ending up with higher energy bills… Ducts that are not insulated all for loss of heated air while I was in the Winter time & cooled air in the summer. This complication is worsened when ducts are located in non-conditioned spaces, such as the attic. If the duct method has not been cleaned for some time, there is most likely a buildup of contaminants hidden inside. Allergens such as dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, bugs & even decomposing rodents can be concealed within the ducts & lead to all sorts of health problems, then every time the air passes through the ducts, it picks up these pollutants, spreads them throughout the lake house & degrades indoor air conditions.
