My landlord is such a jerk. He promised in the contract that he would fix the furnace whenever it broke down. So when my furnace broke down one day, I thought of a completely unethical thing to do. I was in contact with one of my friends, and I told him that my furnace was broken. I told him my plan, and he offered to let my family and I stay with him until we got our furnace fixed. I called my landlord, and I told him that the furnace was broken and needed to be fixed. He told me that he would take care of it, but I knew that he would never call the HVAC technician in time. He left that house without a furnace for an entire month. One day, I called him and asked him if he ever planned to fix the furnace, and he was floored. That’s right! I left the furnace off for a month, and now he was going to have to pay for plumbing repairs too. I told him that I would sue him unless he did what I asked since the contract affirmed that he was responsible.
