For the past numerous years, I’ve been employed at a place where the boss refused to let me grow in my responsibilities or job titles.
He was always sending me off on a wild goose chase instead of letting me manage projects from start to finish.
Luckily, management changed hands recently, just in time for a really cool project. Actually, someone has been trying to sell a ploy of land located nearby my house, by the river. I was surprised when the for sale sign quickly disappeared after only a few weeks on the market. I was even more surprised when someone started to break ground and build so quickly in the empty lot, after numerous months of digging and excavation at the site, I finally saw a sign for the current corporation. I was actually hoping for a restaurant or retail center, however the groundcutting was only for a current 24 hour fitness center. I never thought I would see the inside of the building… but after last weekend, our boss called me into the office and asked me to go off and perform a commercial estimate. The commercial quote was actually for the current fitness center. They wanted an updated quote for a couple of indoor media air cleaners and numerous dehumidifiers.Our boss sent me over to the building to assess the size and talk to the owner about our HVAC unit and replacement process. I gave the owner a very fair and educated quote for all of the work. A few mornings later, our boss happily heard back from the corporation. They are going to use our commercial services and I am going to be in charge of the project. It’s our first time in a leadership position at this place, and I’m excited to get started.
