Our son has been going through sort of a rough patch recently so we have made the choice to try and help him out! It all started 2 years back when his oldest son passed away! We were absolutely devastated to lose a grandson however it is pretty much always harder on the parents. This year my son and my daughter-in-law got divorced. I realize the loss of their son prompted it. Very few marriages survive something so severe. Then, as if this all wasn’t brutal enough, our son lost his high paying work position. Needless to say, we have allowed him to transfer back into the beach property while he gets back on his feet. At first we set him up in his aged bedroom however it easily doesn’t offer a reasonable amount of space. If his daughter wants to visit she has to rest on the couch. That is why we made the move to renovate the basement and make it something like a little apartment for our son. The basement already had a good floor however it had no heating or cooling equipment. It also had no drywall, plumbing, or dining area! Our son was unquestionably glad to help us renovate the basement for him. It provided him something to do and we took care of most of the work ourselves. We even installed the heating and cooling equipment ourselves. After we found out our central furnace and air conditioning equipment are not strong enough to take care of the basement we decided to invest in a ductless mini split system. The ductless mini split easily provides adequate heating and cooling for the basement area. It was quite easy to install too.
