Getting in shape before move

By the time I packed up my belongings and headed across the country, I barely recognized myself

A couple years ago, I was offered a job promotion. The new title, added responsibilities and meant a significant increase in pay. It also required me to move across the country. I had six months to prepare for the move. I decided to reinvent myself and become the best person I could be before stepping into my new life. I knew that I’d be making first impressions and wanted to feel good about myself. I used my six months to get into better physical shape. Knowing I wouldn’t be able to achieve my goals on my own, I signed up with a personal fitness trainer and a nutrionalisty. The nutritionist taught me how to eat healthy without feeling like I was starving to death. She showed me how to make substitutions, replacing empty calories with super foods like blueberries, kale, beans and all sorts of fruits and vegetables. The personal trainer designed training sessions to motivate and push me out of my comfort zone. Those sessions were brutal. I’ve never exercised to that level. By the end of the 90 minute session, I was always dripping sweat, out of breath and barely able to lift my arms or walk. I was exhausted and sore. I also felt proud of my accomplishment. It didn’t take long to see and feel an improvement. I suddenly had more muscle definition, more energy and stamina. I lost weight and felt stronger. I gained flexibility and balance. By the time I packed up my belongings and headed across the country, I barely recognized myself. I have since continued with personal training.
