The value of HVAC certification

I work hard, and have always expected no less than an honest day’s pay for that work. If I ever feel I am being worked too hard, or paid too little, I will voice my complaints and then leave for greener pastures. This doesn’t happen often, but I do feel it is important for a person to know their own value and not settle for less. That said, higher education was never in the cards for me, and my work ethic and physical strength were all that were carrying me through the rat race. Then I reconnected with an old buddy of mine who needed some help for his fledgling HVAC business, and I readily agreed to work for him. He needed people who would work hard and people he could trust, no matter how little they knew about HVAC systems. I worked hard for him, mostly driving the delivery truck and moving around the heavy heating and cooling equipment to the job sites. One day my friend pulled me aside and said he would pay for me to go to night school and become an HVAC technician, if I wanted. He explained about the HVAC certification test, and how I could take a few classes to help me pass it with flying colors. I always struggled with school, but I know that work ethic won’t carry me forever, and learning the HVAC repair skills would be a big help for me. Part of knowing your value is increasing that value, so I think I will try for my HVAC certification.
