I Prefer Color In My Furnace Filters

Call me a weirdo, but I actually prefer my furnace filters to have color to them! I know, that sounds very odd.

But I am an odd person.

I hate those furnace filters that are just the standard tan color. One of the reasons I do like either green, blue or red furnace filters is because I can tell more easily if the filter of the furnace is dirty enough and has to be changed. When the tan colored normal ones get all dirty, it sometimes is hard to tell if the furnace filter is real clogged up or not. Of course, if the furnace actually starts making odd noises, or, if the air quality in my home starts going downhill that’s the only way I can really tell about the furnace filter if it’s just the standard color. Actually, blue is the best color to see if the furnace filter is dirty enough to need to be changed. This little pet peeve of mine was something that came about when I was staying at my brother’s house one time. I had noticed he had different color filters, and I was amazed at how on top of changing the furnace filter he actually was! The air quality in his house never went downhill, because he would always look at the filter, and as a matter of fact, he mentioned that the blue furnace filters were the best ones to show you the dirt build up. He actually showed me what to look for too. When the dirt formed a filled in square, that’s when you change it.
