Cabin rental; glad to go back to real heating (fireplace)

I never thought that I would say this, but I am so ready to leave this cabin and go back home.

For the past few days, I have been sticking it out and praying for this vacation to end. I never thought that I could have such an unpleasant time in a cute little cabin in the middle of the woods in the middle of the beautiful mountains. However, these homeowners made it a possibility by refusing to install a modern central heating system in their rental property. Who would have guessed that when we booked to this rental cabin, we would also be signing up for a week without any modern heating implements? When we got to the property, everything looked festive and adorable. I got inside and actually enjoyed the cold air and abandoned cabin smell. The house had that woodsy odor that can only be attained with stagnant woodland air. At the time, it didn’t register that such still indoor air corresponded to a lack of central heating and cooling. I only discovered the complete void of heating equipment a few moments later, when I attempted to adjust the thermostat and realized that I couldn’t find a thermostat anywhere. That’s when my boyfriend cheerily exclaimed that he found the wood burning fireplace and hoped we had plenty of firewood. We went outside and began poking around looking for a dry burning wood. All that we found was semi musty and rotted out firewood in an old shed. So began a week of smokey, ineffective heat from the wood burning fireplace and a week of my freezing cold misery.
