A Pirate festival in Tampa Bay

I only wish I had a camera to catch the look on their face when they saw it

My children have always liked playing pirates, and they even pretend to walk the plank. It seems that playing pirates has been an obsession for them, ever since they were little. Living in the Tampa Bay area, may have a little something to do with their obsession over pirates. Tampa Bay is rife with stories of pirates that lived in our area. A lot of people think that the stories are just folklore, but I think it is a rich part of the history of Tampa Bay. I have always lived in Tampa Bay, and this year, my wife and I have decided to take our kids to the Gasparilla Pirate Festival. This is a yearly festival in Tampa Bay and it commemorates the legend of Jose Gaspar. Jose Gaspar is an infamous pirate whose legend dates back into the 1690’s. Jose is said to have been a real troublemaker for the Tampa Bay area. Some people think this is just stories, but it is a good reason to have a good time. In January, Tampa Bay has an annual Pirate Festival. My wife and I decided that we were going to go to the festival every day. They have a huge parade to go along with the festival. My kids were wide-eyed with delight when the huge pirate ship floated down the street. I only wish I had a camera to catch the look on their face when they saw it. They loved the parade and the pirates and they want to come back every year. We’ll be able to dress up like pirates and talk like pirates once a year, and no one will think we are weird.
