They look ugly to us, however you should realize that dust mites are like any other creature in that they are seeking a nice comfortable place to raise their families of about 100 offspring. They’re hideous, but they’re all around you. They don’t live long, perhaps 10-12 weeks, so they work hard to to pack a lot of life into those few short weeks, and that means dust mites don’t look for “greener pastures.” Instead, their parents raise them houses with lots of people & pets each shedding skin cells that the nasty dust mites love.. After they sign the dust mite deed to your property they transfer their whole clan in & go on a rampage of eating the dead skin cells, mating, regularly defecating & having a jolly time within the warmth & humidity of your modern condo…. At least, when it’s in need of an Heating, Ventilation, & A/C overhaul. Meanwhile, as your HVAC spreads mites, you sneeze & wheeze away your life as the unwitting host. If this sounds familiar, don’t worry – you are not alone because dust mites are simply a piece of life that every one of us must live with. The key truly is to keep them as a small rural community. I find, you can make your property less appealing to them. A temporary solution is to professionally wash & dust your condo thoroughly, and a more permanent solution is to substitute your Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system immediately with a humidifier that will keep your condo a lot more cool & dry; not a good place for dust mites to hang their tiny hats.
