A few years ago, I recognize that what I have done would have been close to unthinkable. But, I will tell you anyways… some friends as well as I just went in together to purchase a home of our own. None of us make enough currency without help to make that sort of purchase. So, the people I was with and I sort of just got honest with one another as well as realized that if the people I was with and I wanted homeownership in our lifetimes, the people I was with and I had to get creative. Collectively, our small group was easily able to fund the down payment to get a mortgage that the people I was with and I could all afford. The only way it would work easily is with the right type of house. The two of us found a particularly large older apartment with 3 floors. This provides 3 separate living spaces for the three families as well as a big living room. The first thing the people I was with and I had to do to make it far more liveable was to unfasten as well as upgrade the Heating plus A/C that we had installed. The apartment came with an out of date as well as truly inefficient heating & cooling unit. It was a central air plan we installed that was well past its prime. Instead of replacing it with a high tech central HVAC, the people I was with and I went with a newer Heating plus A/C plan that easily was more suitable. As such, each living section has its own ductless Heating plus A/C so that easily allows for independent control as well as cost tracking. The communal living room will also have a ductless unit. The efficiency of this plan of Heating plus A/C is stellar.
