My youngest son is a cross-country long haul truck driver.
- Within the space of many afternoons, he will be trucking from Philadelphia all the way to Los Angeles.
He swears he likes the work, even if I don’t recognize how he can do such a job. And I used to prefer driving school bus. I drove a school bus for well over twenty-five years. He tells myself and others he can’t understand how I was able to prefer that manner of work. At least with the bus, I was out of the cab after about 2 or 3 hours. I didn’t need to sit there until our bladder was about to bust and then need to look for a rest stop that had parking room to fit our vehicle. I knew that I would be home and sleeping in our own bed every single night. He knows where he’ll be sleeping, at least as far as the neighborhood goes. I recognize how he has a sleeper cab and he says he has all the comforts of home. He also has a Heating as well as Air Conditioning plan that is better than his home. His husband says he is 100% right about the Heating as well as Air Conditioning, however the bed is horrible. I had to chuckle at that. She said that it gets so tepid from the heating, that you begin to sweat. It doesn’t really help any that you are trying to move and find a cool space, however the heating is coming up from the floor and it goes right through you. Katie told myself and others that he had really wanted radiant heating until he had to sleep in the truck with him. She said radiant heating may be good for a powder room, however never for the floor beneath the bed.
