Occasionally every one of us forget how things used to be before technology took over and has given us numerous things that every one of us take for granted today! I remember back when I was young every one of us did not have a/c; all of us only had fans and when it was truly hot outside, every one of us used to go and spray the chilly water from the hose outside on us or go swimming in an ice chilly swimming pool at the YMCA! Recently I remembered the ancient chilly water hose trick when our central heating and a/c system went out on a sizzling summer time afternoon. The heating and cooling contractor could not get someone out instantly, so my kids were getting to think that it was positively boiling. That was when I had them go outside and play with the water hose and spray chilly water all over themselves. They ended up absolutely having fun with it and also cooling off and feeling great! They were amazed that there were other ways to stay cool other than central a/c. I had to explain to them that when I was a kid, this was what every one of us used to do plus having our window fans. All of us also had kiddie sprinklers as well that were pretty fun for us all to play with. My kids truly enjoyed having a water confrontation with the chilly water from the hose. It got me thinking that maybe every one of us should all do things the ancient and old fashioned way every so often to educate our kids of what once was and also so that every one of us doesn’t take today’s technology for granted!
