Heads up gives us time to plan HVAC upgrade

There are a lot of things to be said about HVAC preventive maintenance.

  • I have friends who continue to give me grief over spending money on seasonal HVAC maintenance.

These are the same people who keep replacing their HVAC units. We have gotten 24 years of great service out of our heating & cooling system. I attribute much of that success to the fact that it is maintained by certified, licensed HVAC professionals. And it has been worth every penny given the longevity we have gotten out of that HVAC unit. Yet, there is another great thing to be said for consistent HVAC maintenance. It gave us plenty of lead time prior to having to replace the heating & cooling unit. This was an invaluable benefit of our commitment to HVAC maintenance. About a year and a half ago, the HVAC tech who does the service on our unit let us know that we were going to start to see the HVAC unit fade. The HVAC was going to start a spiral that would include less efficiency and the inability to meet demand. He suggested that we start planning for the replacement. Well, we took him at his word and did just that. We contacted an HVAC contractor who came out to the house to help us. After doing the requisite site inspection, he sat down with us. There he listened to our wants and needs when it comes to heating & cooling. The HVAC contractor helped us wade through all the HVAC options and find the model that would fit our needs as well as our budget. Now, we are about to have our new HVAC installed. And this was such a painless process because we had time to prepare, save and purchase an HVAC replacement unit.
