I felt really bad for my grandfather when Grandma passed away.
- He was there living in his place all alone.
I even asked him if he would like for me to move in with him. He laughed and said that I definitely wouldn’t want to spend my time with an old depressed man. He was still grieving the loss of his wife, and I just wanted to bring him some peace and comfort. He ended up telling me if I wanted to help him out, I could always help split some wood for the fireplace. There was an old fallen tree in the backyard that he was working on, but he was too sad and tired to do the work. It was going to be a long winter ahead and I knew that he needed that firewood for the fireplace, so I got to work. I guessed that I wasn’t going to move in with him, but at least I could fulfill his request to split the firewood for the fireplace. After a long day of splitting firewood, he ended up making a fire in the fireplace. He thanked me for all my work and tried to pay me some money. I refused the money kindly and said he should use that towards his heating system tune-up. I know how pressing it is to regularly get that tune up before the cold season comes upon us. Around here, everybody has multiple heating sources in their homes. Trust me, you definitely don’t want to be in the cold around here because we have tough winters.
