I could work at McDonald’s or that gas station and make the same wage
After my girlfriend and I broke up, I decided to move back home to start over again. My girlfriend and I had a messy break up. We fought all of the time and it was volatile. I was young and incredibly stupid. I thought I knew the answer to all of life;s issues. I didn’t have a car or an apartment, so I started off with basically nothing. I moved into the basement of my mom and dad’s house. I was working in the HVAC industry, but it was very hard to find a job when I came back to town. My girlfriend and I were living in the city and there were dozens of HVAC companies with available positions. I was working for a company that specializes in air filtration and air purifiers. I wanted to find another HVAC company specializing in indoor air solutions, but I haven’t even been able to find a job working as a repair technician. I’m trying not to be very picky, because I need to have money coming in. I don’t want to live in my parents basement for the rest of my life. I had an interview last week, but the owner of the company was only going to be able to pay me $12 an hour. I could work at McDonald’s or that gas station and make the same wage. That certainly is not enough money for a certified and trained HVAC technician. I’m going to continue to look for something great, but the first job that pays a good salary and benefits is going to be my new home.
