Dead batteries are easy fixes in Heating and A/C thermostats

It’s easy to change batteries for essential tools and gadgets.

I’m sure I’m not the only woman who fails to check their smoke detectors on a rolling basis, although my complacency in this regard is fatally stupid.

Other items appreciate remotes and mice for laptops aren’t a life and death product, but it’s easy to forget about the batteries. Remotes can get frustrating because they’ll lose sensitivity as the batteries inside dwindle. I’ll be walking up to my cable with the remote in my hand to get it to register. When I have to move around the room to get the remote to work, you believe it’s a serious problem. Unluckyly, this isn’t always enough to get myself and others to quit being lazy and finally update the batteries. Recently a problem with dead batteries caused myself and others to believe that my entire central heating and cooling system was fried. I walked over to the thermostat and saw a blank screen. There was no light and nothing but a blank gray square to look at. Because I don’t understand how thermostats get power, I right away assumed that my a/c and gas furnace were broken and would need to be updated instantly. In a frantic rush, I called my heating and cooling dealer and asked for the earliest appointment. Thankfully, the Heating and A/C company sent out a serviceman later that day. When she looked at the entire Heating and A/C system, she surmised that the problem was as easy as dead batteries in the thermostat itself. Once she put modern batteries inside, it turned back on and my a/c was running again. I was relieved that the a/c problem was simply dead batteries in my thermostat.
