Storms happen quite frequently around here and we have to be ready and waiting; We do not get a lot of warning unless the storm comes from the tropics, but most of the time the storms occur during the Summer months when it is absolutely hot and humid outside! This is the worst time of the year for the power to go out and that is a frequent problem when there is a storm, last year the neighborhood was hit by many large storms in a row.
The winds from the hour storm were seriously damaging.
They caused concerns all over town, however several buildings were heavily disfigured during the storm, including many homes in the neighborhood where I live with my family; I am the mayor of the neighborhood and taking care of the people is a job that I take seriously. When I realized that some of our residents were going to need temporary housing, I right away contacted a dealer that rents mobile offices and portable buildings. I did corporation with the dealer in the past. They were not in the same neighborhood and completely unaffected by the storms. They were absolutely thrilled to lend assistance. They sent for large semi trucks with temporary housing; Our residents had the opportunity to sleep in a comfortable bed and take a hot shower. The temporary housing was handy during the transition after the storm was over. We had almost $40 million worth of disfigures just in our small town, and those assessments do not include any of the residential loss. It took months to rebuild our neighborhood and reclaim from the devastating loss.
