Dipping in the Gulf isn’t so bad

I’ve been taking cold dips each afternoon in the sea during my time living overseas.

I’m back in the states now plus in my hometown, the land of Mickey Mouse, where the temperature of the Gulf is approximately 20 degrees warmer than overseas so my cold water dips are not so frigid right now. I think the sea temp overseas in my neighborhood is approximately 57F right now plus it is fantastic for waking me up plus cooling down my aching joints but here it just feels somewhat cool. It is still nice for cooling the body down but doesn’t have that same jolt that I have in the sea on the other side of the Atlantic. Commonly, I take a dip over there with a local buddy. I was taking them alone, but had a hypothermia incident one afternoon plus felt that it was a smarter idea to take the dip with a buddy. We had to call an ambulance that afternoon when I stayed in the 55 F water for too long plus I don’t want to have to go through that kind of ordeal again in my life. I think the ambulance had the cooling device on in the back where they were treating me so it was a bit uncomfortable for me, especially after entering the ambulance while already shivering cold. Maybe they needed to keep the ambulance cold for a certain reason plus it didn’t help that I only had on a light sweater plus shorts after my swim. The moral of the story is don’t go in frigid water too long on a cold cloudy afternoon.
