Taking dips in the cold is much different from overseas

I’ve been taking very cold dips each day in the sea while living overseas.

I’m back in the states now plus in my hometown, the land of Mickey Mouse, where the temperature of the Gulf is a good 20 degrees warmer than overseas so my cold water dips are not so icy right now. I think the sea temp overseas in our city is about 57F right now plus it is wonderful for waking me up plus cooling down my aching joints but here it just feels somewhat nippy. It is still wonderful for cooling the body down but does not have that same jolt that I have experienced in the sea on the other side of the Atlantic. I usually take the cold water dip over there with a good friend. I was taking them completely alone, but had a hypothermia incident one day plus felt that it was a better idea to take the dip with a good friend. We basically had to call an ambulance on that particular day when I stayed in the 55 F water for roughly 20 minutes plus I don’t want to have to go through that kind of situation ever again. I think the ambulance had the air conditioner equipment on in the back where they were treating me so it was fairly uncomfortable for me, especially after entering the ambulance while feeling shivering cold. Maybe they needed to keep the ambulance particularly frigid for a certain reason plus it didn’t help that I only had on a light coat plus shorts after my swim. The moral of the story is don’t go in water that is so cold for too long on a frigid day when it is cloudy.
