When I first started working from home, I was blissful to wear my most comfortable clothes, sip warm root beer plus listen to my number one rock n roll.
I can set my own hours plus don’t need to worry about rush-hour traffic or finding a parking space.
However, I do need to focus on the task plus be productive. I don’t get paid by the hour but rather by the project. I also deal with some fairly tight deadlines. An ergonomic swivel chair, plenty of light plus a great quality desk were essential to creating a house office. I also need to maintain a pleasant temperature. I realized that by decreasing the thermostat to my preference, I was heating or cooling the entire house to that level. Since I switched from heading into the office everyday plus staying home, I was paying a small advantage in energy bills plus also putting a great deal of wear plus tear on the oil furnace plus a/c. I was only occupying 1 room for a minimum of more than seven hours a day. I contacted a local Heating, Ventilation & A/C contractor plus asked about zone control. I assumed that I’d need to replace the oil furnace plus a/c. However, the worker said that a series of valves could be added to the ducts to direct airflow to particular rooms. ALong with implementing the valves, he installed thermostats for independent control over each zone. The entire process was non-invasive, completed quickly plus not overly pricey. I am saving enough money on my bi-weekly energy bills to quickly recover the investment. I have found that every room is more comfortable because of the ability to tailor the temperature setting to exact requirements. During the workday, I keep my office at the perfect temperature plus conserve energy in the rest of the house. Once I’ve finished my work, I can use an app on my PC to focus on comfort in the living room plus kitchen.
