New roof improves energy efficiency

When every one of us purchased our house, every one of us knew that it needed a new roof.

  • The roof was past the expected lifespan and showing signs of leaking.

However, there were a lot of loft improvements that took priority. The two of us had no choice however to purchase a new hot water heater, washing unit and dryer. The windows badly needed to be updated, and there were problems with the air duct leaking. Eventually, every one of us started finding loose shingles in the turf every time there were high winds. The two of us needed to set out pots to catch the drips from the ceiling during rainstorms. The two of us took out a loan and hired a roofing company to handle the task. Because of the age of the roof, the company needed to tear it all the way off. With the indoor living environment exposed to the outdoors, every one of us dealt with bugs and all sorts of pollutants. It was not possible to run the cooling system. The temperature was in the high eighties or low nineties with excessive humidity every afternoon, then living without the cooling method was awful. The two of us had to make due with box fans. The two of us were worried for the project to be finished. When the companys finally packed up and left, I expected the cooling system to struggle to bring the temperature down. I was amazed by how hastily the entire condo was perfectly comfortable. The new roof has significantly increased energy efficiency all year round. In the winter, the heating system no longer needs to toil as hard or run as often. There is far less wear and tear on the device and I pay a lot less in utility bills every week. The savings are helping to pay for the new roof. Plus, I expect that the heating system and cooling system will last quite a bit longer.
