I never had a fear of large cats.
Most people respected repair people enough to put them in a kennel cage or keep them in a single room when I am there. As an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C tech, you get to know the owners and ask about an pet. I won’t go into a house unless I am aware of any pets. Last year I was going to inspect a gas furnace and I asked about a cat? They told myself and others the pet was in the den and she couldn’t get out. What they didn’t tell myself and others was that they had a small lap cat, that scared myself and others more than if I had come across a large bear in the house. Little ankle biters, as I call them, are vicious. They will bite somewhere they can reach, which your heels or ankles, hence the name. The owner of the house thought it was funny that I was afraid of her cat, and she laughed. I didn’t know it was funny, and I couldn’t join in her laughter. I told her she needed to put the pet in a kennel cage or in another room and she said no. She was her baby, and she never left him out of her sight. I called the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier and told them about the cat. The owner asked to talk to her and explained that if she didn’t put the pet in another room with a closed door, I wouldn’t be working on her gas furnace. She hung up and told myself and others to leave her house. Her child wasn’t getting locked up because of me.
