I think I started dreaming about building my own home when I got my first tree house.
This was just something that I so wanted to accomplish at least once in my life.
Life and all its randomness can put a crimp on those kind of dreams. My wife and I had four kids that came one after the other. The house we raised our family in was a nice house and a good place for a family. All our kids had their own room even. Plus there was a finished basement which functioned as a guest room. The only thing we had to renovate when we bought the place was the kitchen and the residential HVAC. After that, we really didn’t have to do much to the house. Once our oldest child started college, we started to consider what it would be like when we were soon to be empty nesters. We were sure that our home would be too big for just the two of us so we started thinking about building a house. It was the design process that was so appealing. Once we bought the software, we’d stay up late in the central air conditioning planning our new home build. Once we got to the building phase it was definitely a challenge. In fact, we interviewed for HVAC contractors ourselves. This is because we had some very specific wishes when it came to residential HVAC. And getting the right HVAC contractor was essential to that. It took a bit of time but we did end up finding just the best HVAC contractor. Now that I’m enjoying the best quality heating and air of my life, I’m sure glad we found that HVAC professional.
