When I was dreaming of being a homeowner, it was just that, a dream.
But I kept after that dream by saving every dime so I could afford the downpayment on my house.
But now that I’m a homeowner, I’ve realized that there is sure more that goes into all of this. I knew that the heating and cooling would be better in my own house than in my apartment. I also really like the idea of building equity instead of making somebody else money by paying rent. But all the other stuff and all the details that go with being a homeowner certainly come with a learning curve. Yet, my wife and I were committed from the beginning to doing much of the work on our house. While there were things like the HVAC and countertops that we had to have done by professionals, we knew we could handle other home projects. We did all the demolition and the painting and even put down the faux hardwood floor. There’s been a lot of projects and there was one that was particularly tough. But we also figured that out which was essential. We were faced with a problem when it came to the heating and cooling of our home. The old central air conditioning just wasn’t going to make it. Additionally, the air ducts were shot as well so it was going to be quite a project. However the HVAC contractor suggested that we might go a different way and use ductless heat pumps instead. That was absolutely the perfect solution and we love this new residential HVAC method.
