It’s so nice to be a week out from Christmas and I have every bit of my holiday shopping complete and mailed.
That’s a big deal for me.
But what makes it even better is that I used my summers worth of air conditioning cost savings for presents. That’s how much I saved on the cooling comfort inside my home. This time of year, the heat pump stays off mostly. But if we need it, the heat pump makes quick work of the morning chill and then cycles off for the rest of the day. For sure this is the sort of winter I want to have. But of course, that comes with a flip side when it comes to all the heat we endure. This area records temperatures that are normally right around the century mark from June through September. But the real kicker is the humidity. That can make it super uncomfortable during those four months. But I’m really lucky that we have such great residential HVAC which provides the air conditioning to manage this situation. But I’ve been spending more money on HVAC in the summer than I wanted to. So with some easy changes, I saved a ton on air conditioning costs this past summer. Sealing the house up really tight made a big difference. I also stopped all the direct sunlight heating which was also significant. But really it was all about the thermostat setting discipline. Still, it was really great to use all the savings from over the summer to purchase presents for the people I love at Christmas.
