An addition means bigger HVAC

I want to be able to house a whole family comfortably.

Our house has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. My husband and I don’t share a room and no way will we ever. He also has his own separate office space. Right now we have one child that takes the last one. We are debating on having another baby. Where will this child go? I feel we have no choice but to add an addition. I want to add two more bedrooms and a bathroom. That way we can have three kids without any problems. If we only have two, then the last room can be my office. There is no shortage of property either. We have the space. I also feel we have the money. My husband is a bit concerned though. He did put up a good point. If we add onto our home we will need to get a bigger HVAC component. Right now we have a HVAC device that works for a 1500 square foot house. Adding three extra rooms will put added stress on the HVAC. We will need to upgrade to a larger unit and get ductwork in the other spaces. Also, electric and plumbing will need to be handled. It will be an expensive project for sure. I think it is worth it though. I want to be able to house a whole family comfortably. I don’t want to have one less child because I don’t have a bedroom for them. I really don’t want to just cram into the space we have either. My husband and I just can’t share a room either. We would divorce for sure.
