On nicer afternoons, I turn off my air conditioner and open my windows

Now that Spring is here, I can also finally open my windows and doors and let some fresh air into my house.

This time of year is the reason why I chose to live in the South.

The weather is warmer outside, and it will remain hot for the next 7 or so months. Of course, with hot weather comes the rain, and frankly, I don’t even mind when my buddy and I get occasional storms. In fact, the rain helps to cool down the day, which works out better for my pockets. When it rains, it means that my air conditioner can take a chop from running because the hot and cold temperatures will be a lot cooler outside. While I do care about the warmer weather, I don’t appreciate paying the high prices for my utility bill. And for the next 7 months, my air conditioner will be running on most afternoons. I shouldn’t complain about it though. Instead, I should be grateful that I have a/c, then plus, during the Winter, the weather is definitely so mild outside, that I barely use my central heating. This also means my utility bill is a lot lower during the colder months. So, in reality, the currency I save on my energy bill in the Winter, I end up spending it during the warmer months. In a way, the currency balances itself out for the year. I can’t do much about it though because I need my air conditioner to remain comfortable in my home. But on those afternoons when the weather is nicer outside, I will also take advantage and open up the windows and doors and provide my air conditioner a break.
